Apply a lip balm to the lips to lock in moisture. Make sure to apply every night before retiring to bed, skin heals while resting so this step will help maintain a softness to the lips. Remember, as the skin ages this will be an important step to maintain since moisture is loss as skin matures.
Get Long-Lasting Lipstick with the Right Lip Makeup Products
If the lip line is not very define or if skin is wrinkled around the lip area, it will be important to use a lip liner for a long-lasting lipstick look. Make sure the lip makeup products corresponding and that the lip liner and lipstick match or in a similar color family.
Start by applying the lip liner in soft, feathery strokes to the center of the top lip and then down to the corner of the mouth. Do the same with the bottom lip by applying to the center part and back up to the corners. With the lip liner, fill in the entire lip. This will make the lip liner easier to blend with the lipstick and also help the lipstick last longer.
For lipstick to look the best it is important to apply with a lip brush. Dab a small amount on to the lip brush and apply to the lips, blending with the lip liner as the lipstick is applied. Dab the lips with a single ply of tissue. Apply the lipstick again.
By applying two light layers of lipstick, the lips will not look cakey and will have a longer staying power without becoming dry. If wanting a glossier look, apply lip gloss to the center of the lips. A light sheer color gloss will make the lips look plump and pouty.
